A plumping base coat that grips onto polish for the ultimate chip-resistant, long-wear manicure/pedicure. This is a uniquely flexible formula that provides the tackiness needed for next-level adhesion—which means any lakur (or nail decal) sticks on to stay on. Think of it as the ultimate nail primer: made to last, incredibly chip-resistant, and as always, powered by nail-loving botanicals to infuse supercharged care with every application.

This base coat really grips the polish and makes the manicure last longer. Top with the Gel-strong top coat and my nails look wonderful. Highly recommend
This stuff is great! It's nice and plumping! And it's so shiny it can be worn alone! It's the best base coat I've ever used!
After two days, the entire polish comes off my nail as if it were a fake nail peeling off. Comes clean off base coat and all. I have tried using grip lock more than once and each time the polish either chips or peels off. I have better results with the basic gel base coat. While the polish does go on smooth, it doesn’t last. Not worth it for me.

Nice base coat
Oh dear. After poorly reviewing Jane Austen creme polish, Londontown so very kindly reached out to me and offered to replace the product, and they shipped me this Grip Lock Base coat gratis in hopes that it would fix the adherence issues I was having with Jane Austen. Sadly, that was not the case. While I can absolutely praise Londontown's customer service to the rafters, this base coat is undoubtedly the WORST THING I have tried of their lineup. Believe the naysayers on this one.
Pros: it DOES actually prevent chipping. There is a spongy quality to it, that makes the polish you use over it adhere very well to the base coat, and it remains a little jelly-like, so it "bounces" instead of chips. It's less brittle than other base coats. So, the IDEA is very nice, I hope they can improve on it because there's probably something there...just not quite yet.
Cons: It peels right off the nail within 48 hours, often less. I said before that it adheres well to the polish, and that's absolutely true, but the grip lock feature is descriptive of its hold on the polish, NOT YOUR NAIL. This peels off like a stick-on, (with zero damage to the nail plate, so I guess that's a plus...) ever so quickly no matter what you do.
I have given this so many tries, in so many variations, HOPING it would be a beautiful solution. Nope. For reference, I do not shower/bathe/do dishes with bare hands on manicure days, I file with a glass file, buffer block if needed, I use a cuticle remover, prep with…
Thank you for sharing such a detailed review, we truly appreciate the time and care you put into this. I understand how disappointing it can feel when a product doesn’t perform as expected, especially after giving it multiple tries and having a thoughtful routine in place.
