The Low Down: Strengthening Lacquer Remover vs Prep & Prime Acetone Remover

Nail Polish Remover

You’ve applied your Londontown Lakur, and you have a gorgeous manicure. It’s been a couple of weeks and you are ready for a new shade, and a new look. Normally, you’d just grab any nail polish remover, and take off your polish, but this blog is going to be sharing all the details on why normal nail polish remover is very harmful to your nails, in comparison to Londontown’s removers.

Your typical nail remover can be drying, harsh and damaging, due to the Acetone. Acetone can also strip your nails of their natural oils, making them unhealthy, and brittle. Many removers can also contain harmful chemicals that can affect your nail health long-term.

Strengthening Lacquer Remover

For normal polish remover, we recommend using our Strengthening Lacquer Remover. This Non-Acetone nail polish formula lifts away polish without drying nails or stripping them of natural oils and doesn’t contain harmful ingredients that are almost impossible to pronounce. Our Strengthening Lacquer Remover is also Vegan, Gluten-Free, Cruelty-Free, and Paraben-Free, exactly how it should be.

How To Use:

  • Saturate cotton ball or pad with nail polish remover.
  • Press on to nail for 5 seconds.
  • Gently wipe in circular motions until all lacquer is fully removed.

Prep + Remove Acetone Lacquer Remover

If you are looking for a heavier duty remover that is perfect for gels and acrylics, we recommend our Prep + Remove Acetone Lacquer Remover. Yes, this product does contain acetone, but it is way less harmful than your average remover. Our specially formulated Prep + Remove nail polish remover leaves nails damage-free and prepped for the next service or at home manicure without dehydrating.

This remover allows for minimal buffing when used with UV/LED gels, and it also preps nails for polish by locking in hydration for a gentler removal process.

How To Use:

  • Gently buff the top coat off and buff one small area until the nail plate is visible to allow remover to penetrate all layers.
  • Soak cotton ball or round with Prep + Remove, place on nail & cover with aluminum foil for 10-15 minutes.
  • Remove aluminum and cotton round and gently push off any polish remaining on the nail.

What’s Next?

We recommend having a nail routine before applying polish to make sure that your nails stay healthy and beautiful, even under your polish.

First, if you are taking a break from Gels/Acrylics, or planning on fully transitioning over to polishes, we recommend using our Beauty Sleep Nail Mask. This overnight mask nourishes, regenerates and moisturizes cuticles for a natural nail glow.

If you need some extra healing before polishing your nails, or getting a service done, we recommend this triple threat: Soft Touch Nail Scrub, Fresh Glow Cuticle Remover, and Nourishing Cuticle Oil. These three are fit for those who need intense hydration and nail care, in between or before manicures.

Lastly, if you feel that your hands are dry from over usage of products with chemicals (like that generic remover you have been using for years) we recommend our Whipped Cloud Hand Cream used straight after taking off your lacquer, or after your new manicure is complete to restore, and protect benefits for healthier, more youthful-looking hands.

Here’s to healthy hands and nails, and long lasting beautiful manicures, all 2021!

Xoxo,

Team Londontown
